Some peeps might have noticed that I tossed some of my characters at :iconthehungergamesoct:

And my idea causes a tiny problem.
“Theo is famous” I said. “He helps his tributes by inspiring more people to sponsor them” I said.
But what good is any of that if in the end, Theo's chosen tribute actually doesn't get many sponsors at all?
So I thought of a fun little idea to actually transfer Theo's fame at work into the Tournament Mechanics. Introducing: SPONSORSHIP COMMISHS, YAY!
There are two types of these:
Type 1 – Capitolist Creation (for Tributes, please look into the FAQ)
Type 2 – Sponsorship Point Commissions
If you choose Type 1, I will draw your app for you. I will use a slightly sketchy style and colors either without or with very simple shading, and offer one fullbody and one detail shot OR one waist up and up to two

Theophrastus Weiß

General

Theo is a well-known celebrity in the Capitol, especially popular with the younger demographic. He mainly works as a singer/songwriter, but occasionally also dabbles in acting and show hosting. Technically he's more talented at the latter than at his own craft, but he feels that the music industry is the more lucrative field, so that's where he stays.

When people objectively examine his music, they often end up calling his singing skills decent or okay, and his compositions have varying quality. What he really shines with is how he presents and markets himself.

History

Before his rise to fame, Theo came from a peripheral part of the Capitol – by no means poor compared to the Districts, but notably less wealthy than the more central areas. He loves to exploit this fact as one of the many gimmicks to increase his popularity – the “poor” boy with a big dream who worked hard to finally achieve what he wished for, and never forgot his roots. And while he exaggerates this for the media, it's not all that far removed from the truth. Theo has been dreaming of fame and fortune from a very early age on, and began to work on achieving both very soon. At first his attempts were widespread – several blogs and video channels, with him dabbling in all kinds of stuff including dancing, art, comedy and gaming. Eventually singing was the thing that stuck, and he focused on music while putting his bigger talents (acting and charisma) to good use in his music videos and live performances.

As soon as he started getting attention from the media, Theo started coming up with interesting gimmicks for himself that he used to his advantage over other (often more talented and skilled) musicians. The most well-known of them is the implication that he is some kind of guardian angel like figure, and his work as a musician serves the purpose to help him act on his actual missions half behind the scenes. Not only does Theophrastus write many songs with this idea of a theme (often having the lyrical self protect or safe someone), he also makes sure to be a household name in charity and be known for his amicable attitude towards his fans and the presses. He even spread some rumors and staged “slipups” in interviews to confirm the faith of any believers in this theory.

Personality, Likes and Dislikes

To be fair, not all of his goodie-two-shoes shtick is acting. Theo is incredibly vain and very selfish, but it does genuinely make him happy to incite happiness in others (because hey, their gratitude tends to make everyone adore him!). Even when some of his fans say that he or his music “saved their lives” they aren't always exaggerating – he hires professional counsellors for his fans on concerts, often replies to depressed fanpost with words of encouragement (or at least makes Cocoa do it), and much of his music is about persevering in bad times.

Theo is an awful attention and adoration hog and feels uncomfortable when he doesn't get enough of either. He is very proud of the fact that he barely had to alter anything about his body to look as fabulous as he does (his body mods are listed at the bottom) and likes to show off said body whenever he can. Either his clothes are form-fitting for that reason (he does have a thing for corsets and uniforms) or let onlookers catch glimpses of his body. Often, he uses visual feather, bird, light, heaven and wing themes in his clothing, and he loves to experiment with holographic, semi-sentient and shapeshifting designs that give his every appearance a dramatic flair. His favorite colors are white, gold, and the soft lavender of his eyes – which is why he is rarely seen wearing anything else. He also tends to integrate light sources into his make up or clothing, to make his beauty well-visible and support the ethereal aesthetic he tries to keep up.

He tends to put up the facade of a softspoken, gentle person who only sometimes gets affectionate when spoken to outside of a performance, but during his concerts, music videos and acting bits he effortlessly slips into all kinds of different roles. Still, acting as someone soft and almost fragile who needs some protection himself allows him to manipulate his fans into being protective of him, so that's the persona he sticks with.

Behind that soft facade hides someone to whom the rest of the world mainly exists to serve his own wellbeing. Theo lies and acts and manipulates to get what he wants, and he's gotten so used to this that he rarely can drop the manipulative streak even when dealing with people he genuinely appreciates or loves. It's part of what eventually estranged him from his family (his sisters saw through his act and got tired of it and he was never particularly close to his parents) and he doesn't maintain any real friendships aside from his bond with the Bean twins – his personal assistant and manager. Both of them see through him by now, but Cocoa doesn't mind (being used to people forcing their idea of what's good for her onto her) and Coffee is completely immune. Maybe it's that isolation that still makes him so hungry for the love and admiration of others, even though he typically kind of looks down on them.

Sponsoring

When he chooses to act as a sponsor in the Hunger Games, he usually supports underdogs with a low score – supposedly to even out their disadvantages by providing them with valuable supplies. Of course he really does it mainly to support his image. He might be moved to choose tributes for other reasons, but the one with the lowest score at entering usually has the highest chance of getting his help.

Tributes taken on by him don't only benefit from Theo's money, but also from his fame. He tends to promote them, inspiring his fans to support them together with him to help him on his “mission” (making his fans feel significant to his supposed missions is a major selling point in his PR strategy) and therefore might turn the absolute opposite of a fan-favorite into one of the most popular tributes at the time. Still, his record in terms of sponsoring actual victors looks rather bad (if any of the mentor characters want to step up for one of these, message me or comment here? I'd be happy!).

Not that this would disturb him much or change anything about the fact that people still support tributes he chooses – the important factor for both Theophrastus and his fans here is the adoration of the latter for the former, so even when the tribute dies, Theo releases a sad single or something and everyone is happy.
Sad songs sell well, okay?

Significant Relationships

The Bean Twins:

While he is good at business (as his career clearly shows), he eventually hired someone even better: the Bean twins Coffee and Cocoa are almost always by his side, Coffee being his strong-willed manager and Cocoa his adorable personal assistant. They are the only two people he still has a very close bond with, since he barely sees his enormous family (he grew up with twelve sisters) anymore.



Tybalt:



Theo usually just stays out of Tybalt's way. He knows better than to mess with that guy, but there is a bit of a grudge there ever since Tybalt and Coffee married.

Body Mods

• no hair follicles aside from those on the top of his head (so he doesn't grow a beard, either)

• had his sweat glands removed (as a result, he is prone to passing out from too much heat without his nanobots)

• his hair was very pale at birth already, but he had it changed to pure white artificially

• his body odour has been slightly altered – usually he smells a bit like mint and herbs

• his eyes were naturally kind of devoid of pigmentation (resulting in the lavender color) and not very good – while he didn't change the color, Theo has surgically improved his eyesight a bit, back to an average level

• they aren't a fixed part of his body, but he is very fond of nanotechnology and therefore rarely leaves the house without a thin layer of nanobots on his body. They protect him from overheating or freezing by keeping track of and regulating his body temperature, and his skin is very sensitive to sunlight, so they make sure he doesn't burn as easily as he normally would. They also fulfill a secondary function as his underwear, because even tight underpants can't be tight enough for Theo's taste. Cocoa is responsible for making sure that none of these little buggers short-circuit and they all get sufficient maintenance.
